If gamers ran the world…
Following on to the recent Pew finding that 53% of all American adults play games, it looks like one of Obama’s key information planners is a dedicated World of Warcraft player, causing gamers to analyze his playing style for policy hints. On a similar note, the essay “If Gamers Ran the World” is a thought-provoking article on what games have to teach, even if we don’t always agree with some of its more far-out conclusions.

I’m glad you enjoyed the article/talk; it was, if anything, meant to be more about the thoughts it provokes than the conclusions it comes to. It is deliberately slightly far-out; there was never going to be space to cover all the ground – and caveats – that I’d like to have done, and it felt better to just stick to my guns for the sake of rhetoric. It was, after all, for a general-public audience at a games festival. But thanks again for your link and kind words.
Amazingly, I wasn’t aware of your book until now, so I shall have to check it out posthaste.
